Going to Extremes

Making difficult situations easy.

Ask a 3M Expert
  • If it was easy anyone could do it. Extreme conditions can mean anything from the heat, humidity and bitter cold of seasonal weather to a tight or awkward workspace. Whatever extremes you experience 3M can help you work through them. Our world-class scientists and engineers work to identify and address customer pain points so we can help keep your projects on time and on budget.

Productivity

The more days you can actually build and install Building Envelope solutions, the shorter the overall project schedule can be. Faster enclosure also means quicker weatherproofing of the whole building so the interior trades can start their work.

  • 3M™ Air Barrier Products (0°-150°F) and 3M™ Fire and Water Barrier Tapes (0°-120°F) can be installed in temps from well below freezing to extreme heat
  • 3M™ VentureClad™ Products (-10°F) can be installed in temps well below freezing
  • 3M™ Air Barrier Products, 3M™ VentureClad™ Products and 3M™ Fire and Water Barrier Tapes are immediately rain-safe when applied, so you can install right up to the time it starts raining
  • 3M™ Air Barrier Products can be installed in damp conditions (up to 19% substrate moisture) so you don’t need to wait for the substrate to be perfectly dry
  • 3M Firestop personnel can quickly provide an Engineering Judgment about questions that arise during installation
  • 3M™ VHB™ Structural Glazing Tapes and 3M™ VHB™ Architectural Panel Tapes can be applied to panels at the factory during any weather, then shipped for attachment
Savings and Value

Reducing general conditions keeps money in your pocket and also reduces long-term project costs. In addition, finishing your projects in fewer calendar days means you can get more jobs completed.

  • 3M™ Air Barrier Products (down to 0°F), 3M™ VentureClad™ Products (-10°F) and 3M™ Fire and Water Barrier Tapes (0°F) can be installed in temps well below freezing without spending money to tent or heat the job site
  • Installing on more days helps you throughout a project: you can plan for shorter install periods up front when bidding, plus you’re more likely to meet incentive deadlines
  • Installing on more days means less down time for workers or finding makework projects
  • Completing jobs more quickly means increased revenue
